The reputable NGO wants to make an impact in the lives of struggling communities in the country.

With more than 3.4 million people living in poverty in Ghana, the country is one of the most impoverished in the continent.  This is why renowned NGO Sanders Hand has opened a state-of-the-art computer lab in the country to impart necessary coding and digital business skills.  The NGO is a 501c3 non-profit founded in 2017 that services over 5,000 at-risk youth ages 12 -21 by providing them with financial literacy and business training.

With the launch of the computer lab, young students in the country will be able to tap into the modern digital economy, which allows people to earn from the internet.  The NGO runs also runs different learning stemmed programs to create a thriving learning culture and increase the income level while decreasing the poverty level in impoverished communities.

Through the state-of-the-art computer lab in Ghana, students will be able to learn modern skills such as website development, basic computer literacy, graphic design, and computer programming.  The lab is a center for the students and their parents to learn coding and business application skills to improve their family income and change their financial destiny.

A spokesperson for the NGO said, “The new lab will be a game changer for the community in Ghana.  Using it, students can learn the skills they need to become high-in-demand freelancers such as Fiverr and Upwork and make money from their home comforts.  Our teachers are passionate about bringing a revolution in this country and want our students to work for the biggest tech companies in places like Silicon Valley.”

He added, “The pandemic had been very rough for impoverished communities in Ghana, which is why we at the Sanders Hand are working to bring a change in society through the power of education.  The nominal registration fee for basic computer skills of Ghc150 and other courses of Ghc250 is to give the students and parents a sense of ownership and responsibility so that they see the 3-month program through.”

The institute will remain open from Monday- Saturday and will offer 3-month programs across 2-hour sessions.  The basic computer skills class timing is (8 am – 10 am), graphic design (from 10:30 am – 12:30), and web development timings are (1 pm – 3 pm, respectively. The schedule for the coding/ programming class is on Saturdays from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.

A certificate will be awarded after training at the end of the course completion.  To further incentivize enrollment, the registration fee comes with a T-shirt.  Students interested in learning more about the program can visit their website.  People interested in donating or becoming volunteers can reach out using the information below.
